What are verifiable credentials

Modified on Fri, 27 Oct, 2023 at 3:17 PM

Verifiable Credentials are an open standard for digital credentials and are the basis of the Gaia-X Trust Framework. They are issued to participants and published data products to ensure security and trustworthiness within Gaia-X digital ecosystems.

The ability to upload Verifiable Attestations depends on your platform subscription plan and the configuration of your Data Exchange Platform. To find out what your current plan is, click on your name >  "Your organization", and review the "Subscription plan and quotas" box, or get in touch with our support team.

As a participant, you can upload your Verifiable Credentials, you have two options to do so:

  • Under your profile tab, select “Your organization” and at the bottom of the page choose the credentials you wish to upload either for your organization or your published data offerings.

OR

  • Go to the “Publication” tab, select the published data offering for which you wish to add a certificate for, and then under the “More actions” tab, select the “Add Certificate” button and follow the steps.
